Chase Jarvis is one bad ass photographer. The guy is so in tune with his work and sharing his experiences. He is is also an avid blogger. He often shares his techniques and provides simple but nicely edited video behind the scenes of his work. He is a wealth of talent and experience. I wish I could just spend a few days with him to soak up the knowledge.


Chase is the author of the book “The Best Camera” which he says “is the one that’s with you.” In his case, it’s often his iPhone. It can be depressing looking at his iPhone photos because a majority of them are better than the best photos I’ve taken. Sad.


Here’s one example of the many great videos he has posted on his blog. This one is more about a film project he is working on rather than photography. Another reason I admire the guy, he’s so damned talented in both still and motion.

Here’s my wish list. It just so happens my birthday is coming up too. So, you should be so thankful I’m providing such a low-priced wish list.


Red One :: $30,000 (including some bells and whistles so it’s a steal!)





EasyRig Cinema :: $3,080 (to help me carry the beast of the Red One)





Zacuto Z-Finder :: $375 (to help me stay in focus while filming with the next item)





Canon 5D Mark II :: $3,300 (My Rebel XS can’t even film. Also, Chase uses Nikon, but I’m used to Canon so I chose this.)





Humble Monkey Model 360-T2 Camera Truck :: $1,000 (This allows for that smooth gliding low to the ground point of view)





Steadicam Flyer LE Red :: $14,400 (This one wasn’t featured in Chase’s video, but I still want it.)
